I’m back in college for my second year. To be honest, I’ve laregely forgotten about the site, I just saw my tablet chilling out in the drawer earlier.

Carter and I are planning some big changes. There hasn’t been a time in this site’s life where we haven’t been planning changes, so often it’s been up in the air. Considering that, I have no update schedule planned, but I miss doing comics. I don’t think I’ll be able to swing one a day like I had in the past, but I’ll do my best for about 3 a week.

I’m not going to make a huge post about how life’s been, or what I’ve been up to, but I’ve been busy, and life has been heavy, and now it’s comic time. I do have a personal blog which can be read here, but this site needs some exercise.

So, Tom has been adventuring around looking for work, and I am still here, sitting in my computer chair updating a web page that no one reads. I whipped up a new picture, color and everything, maybe a few more like this on the way.

Well, unkile Tom I don’t have any adventure to keep people updated on, nor do I have any big projects underway. So, what should I update with?

Well, the most exiting thing I can come up with is that I bought the Broken Steel add on for fallout 3; and as much as I love the game I have a feeling completing this will be a lengthy endeavor due to school, work and other things to do. I have yet to get any real play time in except for the initial test to make sure that it works at all.

I guess the only other thing I can really say is that I have decided to try and take up Golf. I have never been a very big sports person, so I am just getting into it now at 17. It is weird though, it seems like (when you just start out) that everyone else is somehow pro, like at some point in people’s lives they just start playing golf and get good at it. Most people I go to class with are more than twice as good as I am, but that is OK and I understand that there is a learning curve.

So, you remember that forum we put into place? Well, turns out spammers noticed too. Apperently what had happened is that there was so much spam going on on that forum that it ate our SQL databases.

Now, because we capped our database we where unable to make any updates, nor could anyone make comments, or pretty well anything else. So, we had to clear our data tables for the forum, and instead of going through all 2,587,291 entries I decided to drop all tables matching phpbb_ So, I log into the box and guess what? For what ever reason I was completely unable to pass any mySQL commands, in fact, not only was I unable to pass any commands I was unable to access the database at all.

I eventually contacted tech support and they shot me over to use the web based GUI. Unfortunatly the gui does not support any kind of delete feture for tables, only indavidual entries. Like hell I was going to manually delete 2.5 million entries by hand. So I went and tried once more at the shell with no luck. I eventually had the hosting company go and delete the tables for me.

Here is some neat info about this.

We where capped at 150mb of allocated mySQL space.
After the datatables where dropped our SQL space was at 5mb!

The script I was trying to run was as follows:

So due to some shifting of my time tables I should have alittle more time for things like this website. Because of having more time I will be able to make more comics of roughtly the same quality I had uploaded today. Probably going to be roughly sketched and maybe shaded with gray, but nothing spectacular.

A little while ago I had spoken up a little about an internet radio server; well that has become as close to a reality as I am comfortable with right now. I had built it what I think is a decent looking page (although has a few design bugs) and have included an intergrated web player along with a directly down oadable playlist file for all you winamp users.

I am also considering the possibility of maybe trying my hand at flash, making a small short as it has been a while and some buddies at school are trying to recruit me into their design team. This is just fun talk at the moment and no serious decisions have been made.

Or is it only week two? I’m not sure at all.

With the amount of work I’m supposed to accomplish on a weekly basis, and the importance of each assignment, the amount of time I spend working on it all has become paramount. A total of 30% of my final grade in three classes is due by Monday, and a lab worth 6% on Friday.

I used to feel, before college that I wasn’t engaged enough, and that I was losing myself to this boring counter clerk I was becoming. Now it’s like captain fucking Picard is standing behind me telling me to go to warp. It’s nice though, being busy with something important. I’m not entirely sure if the comic reflects this.

As i have mentioned a few times in some of my posts I have been working on a secret project. Today I would like to enlighten you as to what I have been working on.

Simply stated it is an internet radio server. I have been working with various others and together we are building us some customized software to run the internet radio from. Todate we have roughly 8 different bands willing to provide us with music. Also we will be doing a live podcast, well hopefully.

That is all I want to unveil for now, I will keep you posted.

I’ve had some more free time this semester, and now, finally on top of college I’ve got some time for websites again.

First, I’d like to comment on the nature of my comics… I’m by no means an artist, or musician or a writer or any of the other things I regularly do. I’m an aspiring engineer, so I figure any art I do should be pretty damn impressive, like an old man winning a fight or something. You know, you’d look at it and be like “Damn! What the fuck!?”

I’m going to update as often as I can, with the nature of the comics, I’ll probably get once a day, while trying to be a day or two ahead, as to not fall behind. I’m taking the weekends off, as I’m normally at my parents house, and I don’t really have the drive to draw two comics in one day.

We let the ball drop on updates, at least for this site, I can’t honestly speak for the internet hobo, but burning machine has been doing alright in recent week, work will be posted in a decent amount of time (I’m working on it before I put it up). Though, with that said, Carter and I know we don’t have much time for this website, so I have created a comic that reflects that.

I’m updating 3 times a week for now, and will update as often as possible…

I’m aiming to update daily, excuse me if I miss a day, I’m still in college after all.
